Bannockburn Live!

Bannockburn Live is a two day event for all, on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June 2014 from 10am – 7pm.

It may be centuries since swords were drawn on the battlefield, but in June you can experience the Battle of Bannockburn for yourself as it is brought to life during two days of epic battle performances. Watch 300 soldiers wage medieval warfare as they recreate the brutal battle across the course of each afternoon – Bannockburn Live is the biggest event of its kind ever to be held in Scotland.

On this historic site, you can visit medieval encampments and see the preparations that were made for battle in 14th century kitchens, blacksmiths, armouries and living quarters, or head to the clan village and discover more about your ancestors.

A fantastic line-up of live music has just been announced, featuring artists including Dougie MacLean and Julie Fowlis and much more. Check out more about the programme on our blog.

Taste seasonal artisan Scottish produce from the food and drink village and watch demonstrations of both modern and medieval cooking techniques. Get lost in tales of days gone by at storytelling sessions, or get hands on and have a go at creating some ancient crafts.

Over the festival weekend, the new interactive Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre, which uses state of the art technology to tell the story of the legendary encounter between the forces of Robert the Bruce and King Edward II, will be open to special King’s ticket holders.
