D-day Piper Bill Millin Statue Unveiling Ceremony

The D-day Piper Bill Millin Association Committee is proud to say that the result of fours years dedication and commitment is finally here.
On Saturday 8th June 2913 in Colleville-Montgomery we unveiled the statue of my Father in front of a huge crowd which included many Veterans from the UK and France.
The day began with a parade of massed bands of which 21 countries were represented, the latest estimate was more than 800 pipes and drums and ended with a dramatic Spitfire flypast.
My Father was very proud that a statue was being made for him, it is a fitting tribute to a man who for almost six decades played the pipes in Remembrance for those who fell on D-day and the Normandy Campaign
Thank you to PM Serge Athenour, President of the Association, for your childhood dream of meeting the “ Mad Piper of Normandy “ and suggesting the idea of a statue.
Our Sculptor M Gaetan Ader, how can we thank you enough for the incredible statue you have created. We hope the statue will become a site of Remembrance in the future where families of Veterans and their children will visit.
We would like to thank Magnus Orr and Pipefest for their contribution and the considerable help they gave our Association.
